Professor Robert Gleave is Professor of Arabic Studies at the Institute of Arab and Islamic Studies (IAIS), University of Exeter. From 2011-2013 he was Secretary/Treasurer of the International Society for Islamic Legal Studies (ISILS) and President of the British Institute of Persian Studies (BIPS). Until July 2012, he was Chair of the Advisory Board for the UK Islamic Studies Network, funded by HEFCE and he serves as a Member of both AHRC and ESRC peer review colleges. He has been visiting scholar/professor at St John's College Oxford; the University of Tehran; Meiji University (Tokyo); the University of Michigan; the University of Washington, Seattle and the Institute of Advanced Studies, Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
